Just wrote this to someone who replied to me but I figured it’d be helpful to post it publicly as well:

“Atheism has nothing but flaws to it, and I’m not saying that as a Christian, I’m saying that as a human being. I didn’t start off as a Christian trying to justify my beliefs, I started off as nothing and evidence justified Christianity’s beliefs.

It’s odd when you think about. Either an accidental nothing caused random balls to float in the black universe with random stars put around them, to then accidentally produce (without cause) from nothing human beings (people you love), animals, oceans, nature, etc. And then we’re just randomly all on this floating ball with for some reason the will to love, live, and achieve. For some reason this random ball produced two genders who coincidentally fit together like puzzle pieces (why isn’t there just one gender who reproduces asexually? Why would it randomly CREATE another incredibly complicated set of reproduction that perfectly matches up with the first?) Why are human beings conceived out of love…? Why do abortions and STDs come about when people stop doing it God’s way? If we did it God’s way, these problems wouldn’t exist. Why do we get married? What sense does it make to bond ourselves to another human being (which, if atheism is true, could just be an evolved ape-or worse-just atoms and nothing more)? Why does the sun shine during the day when human beings need to be active and coincidentally leave when we need to sleep? Why does the moon coincidentally show up at night when the sun is gone and give us enough light to get around if we need to and to give animals light? The uncaused, random “bang” set it all up that way? Why do we have a soul on the inside? For some reason, the accidental “bang” caused us to have an inner self that human beings can’t see but make up everything we are and incase us in a bodily shell. We can cry when someone hurts our feelings yet our body is physically in perfect shape. Then why do we hurt? Why do we laugh? Why don’t other animals cry with tears when something hurts their feelings? Speaking of other animals, how come murder and rape is okay in the animal kingdom but in humanity, we think it’s wrong? Why are human beings the only ones who can speak with words and sentences (in addition to humor, sarcasm, etc). How is it possibly that some people claim we all evolved from one single thing, yet it produced elephants, dolphins, and birds? What caused the drastic change? Why are animals so beautifully designed and colored? Why do we bother with anything if this is all an accidental mistake? Surely it would just make more sense, if atheism is true, to kill every human on the planet (the last person then committing suicide to complete it) and let the animals and nature live? Why do we bother if this is all going to amount to nothing? According to atheism, everything we learn in schools-everything in history will all be nonexistent once this planet dies. Hitler will have never existed. Mother Theresa will have never existed. America will have never existed. You will have never existed. All the bad things people do will go unpunished. If atheism is true then surely the strongest people thrive and the weakest die off. Why did Hitler do anything wrong according to atheism? If there’s no God, then Hitler was simply a man who followed his heart, never let anyone get in his way, was ambitious, etc. Why do those characteristics only apply to someone who has met some uncaused, not given standard of morality? For some reason there are things that are clearly right and clearly wrong in this world. Why? Like I said before, the animal kingdom does not have this, yet atheism tells us we ARE the animal kingdom with just a few more accidental, uncaused neurons. Why do we put people in jail? Animals don’t.

See, American atheists live their lives with Christian values. They look to love another “accidental group of atoms that turned into an evolved ape” and spend their lives with them. They don’t kill innocent people. They try not to steal. They try not to lie. They don’t cheat on their spouses. Why? Because deep down everyone knows the truth. We all know God exists. It takes much more faith to be an atheist. Since atheism has no answers for all of the questions I raised before, why would anyone choose to go by that extremely flawed and empty worldview?

Is it because they don’t understand why this world is the way it is? Why bad things happen to good people? Why evil has to exist at all? I think that is a big factor. They wouldn’t do things the way God does them-which leads me to this great video explaining that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnrJVTSYLr8

There are so many misconceptions about Christianity. If Christianity is true, then it makes SENSE that there would be so many misconceptions. It makes SENSE that human beings would create false gods/religions, be false prophets, etc. It makes SENSE that people would create false Jesus’ (Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses). It all makes sense. I read the Bible now and I am telling you-everything in it predicts the future. Everything is relevant. It’s incredible. You really should read it. I used to not read the Bible and I realized “This is what people think is GOD’s actual Word. This is what people think He really wants to tell us.” If I came out of the woods and told you “I just saw God in the woods! He wrote me a letter! I have it in my hand!” Wouldn’t you be desperate to see what it said, regardless of it’s true or not? The claim that GOD-the creator of EVERYTHING in existence has His actual thoughts written down by humans-through humans-is the biggest claim something can make. It’s huge. You can read it for free online. I recommend the New King James version. Find it here: http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/New-King-James-Version-NKJV-Bible/#books You should start with the gospels (you can google things like “where to begin reading the bible” and “synopsis of each book of the bible” etc to get more info). The book of James is also fantastic. See, non-Christians look at human beings who claim to be Christians as the end-all-be-all of Christianity’s truth. Why would they look to self-admitted sinners to the accuracy of Christianity? The accuracy of Christianity lies in Christ and nobody else. So read some direct accounts of what people saw Him do and say. If nothing else it should be incredibly fascinating.

I mean we’re talking about Jesus Christ. This is a man who literally changed the way we on this planet TELL TIME (BC, AD). How remarkable is that? WE TELL TIME BASED ON HIS LIFE. He had hundreds and hundreds of witnesses. Over 500 people saw Him raised from the dead three days later. Why do some people choose to not believe that when the New Testament is the most historically accurate document on the Earth? We believe everything Plato, Caeser and Aristotle said even though accounts of their lives were written WAY after they died (thousands of years). One account of seeing Christ raised from the dead is as close as 2 years.

There’s so much to this that people tragically don’t know. I really hope that you look into this.

Some great resources are http://www.gotquestions.com (basically any question you have will be answered there). Youtube search Ravi Zacharias, Greg Koukl, Lee Strobel (ex-atheist), Ray Comfort, and read Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis. I mean there are tons of sources and things to read but those are just some.

Nothing deserves more attention than this. If there is a God, everything about your life is now different. If there isn’t a God, everything your life is not different. We live in a world of distractions that prevent us from thinking about the question of God and hoping that if there is, we’ll go to Heaven because we didn’t, say, kill someone. Jesus said if you even so much as hate someone you’ve committed murder. He died because we deserve Hell. He doesn’t want us to go there. Just think about it and if you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask! :)”
